Free photo release for a minor

A parent grants permission to photograph and publish images of a child.

A child cannot sign away publicity rights. A parent or guardian signs, and the child's name sits on the same record so you know who is in the frame.

Camps, schools, and youth sports should collect this at registration — not after the recap reel is posted. Adults still use the standard photo release; paid commercial posing uses the model release.

Spell out usage (social, print, ads, internal only). Put the organization legal name in the document. Not legal advice — see the photographers hub and camps packet guidance.

Questions

Who signs a photo release for a child?

A parent or legal guardian. The child's name and the adult's authority belong on the same signed submission.

Can I use the adult photo release instead?

No. Use this minor version so the record shows parental consent. The adult template assumes the signer is the person in the photos.

What if one parent refuses?

Do not publish that child's recognizable image. Track outstanding signatures in Submissions and honor opt-outs.
