If a face is recognizable and you will post it, you want a signed release. Adults use the photo release. Kids need a parent on the minor version. Paid commercial or editorial posing belongs on a model release.

Send the link with the invoice or questionnaire. For events and teams, show a QR at check-in so you are not chasing people after the gallery goes live.

Usage scope matters: all media including ads, internal use only, or do not use. Put those choices on the form so the signed PDF matches what you promised.

Questions

Photo release or model release?

Photo release for everyday sessions, events, and teams. Model release when someone is posing for commercial or editorial work, often with compensation. See our guide for the decision tree.

What about minors on a team shoot?

Use the photo release for a minor so a parent or guardian signs. Collect it at registration, not after you post the recap.

Can I collect releases on shoot day?

Yes — QR at check-in works — but booking-email collection is cleaner. Shoot-day QR is the backup for walk-ups.
